Matthew Hansen is a cultural worker whose practice spans photography, moving image, research, and curation. With over five years of experience in visual storytelling and four years in the arts and cultural sector, his work explores the intersections of self-discovery, collective memory, and postcolonial narratives. As a photographer and videographer, Matthew creates visual essays that examine identity and transformation, most recently through his ongoing project Journey into the Unknown. Alongside this artistic practice, he contributes as a researcher and curator at SAVVY Contemporary, where he engages in project coordination and supports transdisciplinary explorations that bridge art, theory, and lived experience. His collaborative approach extends into cultural research initiatives, including projects mapping postcolonial entanglements in Berlin’s urban spaces, where he integrates artistic methodologies such as photography into collective inquiry. Rooted in both artistic practice and cultural work, Matthew moves fluidly between creating, facilitating, and contextualizing—seeking new ways to reimagine how stories are told and shared.
