This talk is a personal reflection on her experience as a filmmaker and artist working across different cultural and social contexts.

She explores how assumptions, labels, and preconceived ideas shape the way an artist and their work are seen. When an artwork is viewed through the artist’s nationality, identity, background, or migration story, it can sometimes be interpreted before the work itself has a chance to speak.
Working between cultures can also create expectations: to represent a place, a community, or a particular experience. These labels can offer visibility and belonging, but they can also simplify complex identities and limit how an artist is understood.

Through personal experiences, she reflects on the gap between what she makes, what she means, and what others see. What it means to be visible without being reduced to a single story.”
